Between 1988 and 2001, he held various executive positions at BMW AG in Germany and abroad, before joining Porsche in 2001 and taking over as CEO of Porsche Deutschland GmbH. From 2010, Maier was the Board Member for Sales and Marketing.
Since November 2015, Bernhard Maier has been CEO of ŠKODA AUTO a.s. and is driving the company’s reorientation under Strategy 2025. In addition to electromobility and digitalisation, key aspects of the Strategy include new mobility services and connectivity, implementing a large-scale product campaign and the brand’s internationalisation. For example, ŠKODA has assumed responsibility for the Indian market and the Russian region on behalf of the Volkswagen Group.
Under his leadership, ŠKODA has also introduced new, important models such as the KODIAQ, KAROQ and KAMIQ SUVs. With over 1.25 million vehicles delivered, 2018 was the most successful year in the company’s history.
